The series documents the travel of Governor Reubin O'D. Askew from 1970 to 1978. In addition, correspondence and itineraries relating to some trips are included. Although Askew did not become governor until 1971, the series includes travel related to the 1970 election. Also included are the schedule and plans for the 1971 inauguration.

Reubin O'Donovan Askew, the thirty-seventh Governor of Florida, served from 1971 to 1979. He served in the state House and Senate before being elected governor in 1970, defeating incumbent Claude Kirk. Askew was reelected in 1974, becoming the first governor in state history to be elected for a second successive full term.
